Performance rear shock link for Yamaha MT-09 2021-2026

Developed for track use only.

Want to upgrade your Yamaha MT-09 to have similar track focused geometry to our Yamaha R9 build? The Lucan performance rear shock link, sometimes known as a jack up kit, will raise the back end of your Yamaha MT-09 for sharper handling. Designed using specialist motorcycle chassis geometry software, especially for the Yamaha MT-09. Fully CAD developed, machined from billet 7075 T6 aluminium, and tested on track. Designed and made in England.

Note: The link is finished GP style in raw aluminium, and may scratch easier than anodised aluminium. Not suitable for taking a pillion as progressive nature of spring is reduced. Side stand may no longer be effective. Track use only.

  • Rear ride height is raised by 40mm

  • Trail is reduced by 9.8mm

  • Rake angle is reduced by 1.6 degrees

  • Wheelbase is reduced by 9mm

  • Progressive nature of rear suspension is reduced from 139% to just 115%

  • Swingarm angle is increased by 2.7 degrees

*Data above is with reference to the 2021-2023 Yamaha MT09

These changes make the MT-09 rake and trail similar to the Yamaha R6 Race, and a bit sportier than the R1, and just like the R9.

The reduced trail leads to more agile handling and quicker turning, allowing you to attack even the most technical tracks at speed. The less progressive suspension action gives improved and consistant rider feel and feedback, and smoother power transfer for improved rear tyre wear. The increased swingarm angle adds better anti-squat characteristics for increased corner exit traction and line holding. Slight ground clearance improvment.

Although the Gen 3 2024 Yamaha MT-09 handles well, Yamaha revised the rear shock link when seeking to improve the handling for the 2024 MT-09, but this design takes it to another level. If you've upgraded to a sports or racing rear shock on your MT-09, you should seriously consider upgrading the shock linkage too. A must-have if you are racing your MT-09, or love trackdays, by far the most cost-effective handling improvement we've tested.
